We have personally purchased and tested the Harley Davidson Holdfast Detachable Tour-Pak Luggage Mounting Rack for our 2021 Softail Standard, and the results were outstanding. This mounting system proved to be highly reliable and efficient. In fact, we were so impressed with its performance that we have even made modifications to the Pillion Pooch to ensure seamless integration with the Tour-Pak rack. In our manual and Unboxing and Installation Video Tutorial, we provide detailed instructions on how to open the pilot holes in the Pillion Pooch base to 8mm for easy attachment to the Tour-Pak rack
With the HoldFast docking hardware, you can effortlessly switch from a comfortable passenger backrest to a load-hauling Tour-Pak, allowing you to enjoy the convenience of carrying your Pillion Pooch with ease. The rack is designed with simple fingertip operated latches that release it from the docking hardware for quick and easy removal. Additionally, you have the option to choose between a ...
We highly recommend the Back Road Equipment (BRE) quick release slider rack as one of the ideal choices for mounting your Pillion Pooch motorcycle dog carrier. Since acquiring our first Slide Rack in 2020, we have been consistently impressed with its exceptional quality and effortless mounting and removal process. You can easily check the BRE website for compatibility with your BMW, KTM, Kawasaki, Honda, Triumph, Suzuki, or Yamaha motorcycle. If you own a different model, the universal rack option is available, but we recommend reaching out to Steve for personalised assistance on attaching the rack to your specific motorcycle.
To ensure a perfect fit, we have pre-drilled pilot holes in the base of the Pillion Pooch that align precisely with the pucks on the BRE slider rack. All you need to do is enlarge these holes to 8mm, and we provide the necessary bolts for inserting them into the pucks. Please note that the bolts provided with the rack are not suitable for use with the Pillion ...
Safety on a motorbike is so important for both the rider and the dog. It's easy to know what gear to buy for a person and to get lots of advice on the different brands, materials etc. but it's a lot harder for pets. For a few years we were using regular walking harnesses for Weeti and Shadow when we were riding, purely out of naivety. We simply didn’t think about the importance of the strength of the harness in the event of an accident. We also didn’t know there was any other option. The pivotal moment for us, however, was when Shadow got out of her harness when we were riding through a town. Fortunately we realised quickly before she hurt herself but it was really scary and made us acutely aware of the importance of the harness.
We did a lot of online research, visited a lot of pet shops and decided upon buying a Kurgo Crash Tested harness for Shadow to see how it went. Harnesses for small dogs can be more complicated to get a good fit. We came up with a list of requirements for th...
Rex Specs are super cute, well designed eye protection for dogs that come in a range of sizes and colours. We have been using RexSpecs on our two biker dogs for 2 years. We purchased the Xsmall in yellow for Shadow and the Small-wide in blue for Weeti. Both pairs came with 2 lenses. Again there is a range of tints for the lenses. We decided the first lens would be clear for both and then for Shadow we selected the blue mirror which looked really cool and for Weeti we selected smoke.
We knew it was important for our dogs to have good, comfortable eye protection when riding, especially on highways and motorways. It took us some time to find Rex Specs, we tried some other products on the market including goggles for humans. Nothing fit their faces as well as the Rex Specs and gave 100% protection. Rex Specs have a cushion pad that runs around the frame where it comes in contact with the dogs face. When you fasten the Rex Specs and adjust the webbing, the cushion distributes the ‘load’ ...
